It looks like AC/DC are back, back with the familiar line-up their fans have grown to love. Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd are back in the band. A new photo was dropped on the AC/DC’s social media pages with the hashtag #PWRUP, Could that be the name of their new album?
A couple of years ago Brian Johnson and drummer Phil Rudd were seen at the Waterhouse Studio in Vancouver, Canada. This is the same studio where AC/DC recorded Stiff Upper Lip, Black Ice and Rock or Bust. AC/DC haven’t released new music since 2014 and haven’t toured since 2016 although like most musicians this year hasn’t had a busy touring schedule.
In 2015 Phil Rudd left the band when he was convicted on charges of threatening to kill someone and for drug possession. It was probably just a big misunderstand and everything is ok now.
In 2016 Brian Johnson left after doctors ordered him to stop touring immediately to save his hearing. Maybe they’ve warned him again and he can’t hear them so he just rejoined AC/DC.
After a few months after Johnson and Rudd left so did Cliff Williams. Williams cited a big change in the dynamic of the band and it didn’t suit what he wanted. Maybe the music fell off the axle?
There is yet to be a confirmation by AC/DC about their possible new album. There has been talk of previously unreleased recordings of Malcolm playing guitar that will be incorporated into the new album.
It was 40 years ago that their highest selling album Back in Black was released. The album still has many sales to this day and many plays on streaming services.
