David Bowie Live Album
From David Bowie’s 1974 legend’s soul tour comes the first official live LP to be released on Record Store Day.
The live recording has never been released before and will be entitled as ‘I’m Only Dancing (The Soul Tour ’74) scheduled to be released on Record Store Day on 18th April.
It will be a two-disc set available on CD and vinyl. The recording took place at the Michigan Palace in Detroit on 20th October 1974. The last three songs on the album were recorded at Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium on 30th November 1974.
Back in 1974 in the break of his tour of ‘Diamond Dogs’, Bowie recorded ‘Young Americans’ which featured his hit song ‘Fame‘ and the great cover of The Beatles song ‘Across the Universe‘. The live show shows when Bowie had a new sound and was switching gears from his previous albums. During the live performance Bowie was lifted on a crane that extended him over the audience and there was also a moveable catwalk on the stage.
This will be the first official David Bowie live release from the Soul Tour. Other live recordings from 1974 are ‘David Live’ and ‘Cracked Actor (Live in Los Angeles ’74). This won’t be the only release by David Bowie on Record Store day, there will also be an album of unreleased tracks entitled ‘ChangesNowBowie’ by Parlophone Records.
