David Gilmour on Pink Floyd reunion
Gilmour says “It has run its course, we are done” to Pink Floyd reunion
The question of another Pink Floyd reunion is frequent to David Gilmour. In a recent interview with Guitar Player, in the answer to if Pink Floyd will tour again, Gilmour has simply said “No.”
“It has run its course, we are done” Said Gilmour. “I’m all for Roger [Waters] doing whatever he wants to do and enjoying himself.”

Roger Waters showed the same amount of enthusiasm with the Pink Floyd reunion with telling Rolling Stone last year “No, [a reunion] wouldn’t be nice,” Said Waters. “It would be fucking awful. Obviously, if you’re a fan of those days of Pink Floyd, well, then you have a different point of view. I had to live through it. That was my life. And I know in the wake of it, I’ve been cast as something of a villain by whoever, whatever. So be it. I can live with that. But would I trade my liberty for those chains? No fucking way.”
The Gilmour & Waters Rivalry
There’s been a long rivalry with David Gilmour and Roger Waters. Waters is a founding member of the band. Gilmour joined in 1967 before founding member Syd Barret departed from the band in 1968. Waters left Pink Floyd in 1985 and sued the other three members of Pink Floyd for continuing to use the name without him, he was unsuccessful.
Waters has been banned from using the official Pink Floyd website and social media pages. In May last year he shared a five minute rant on his own official Twitter page saying “One and half million of you have viewed our new version of Mother, which is lovely – it really warms my heart. But it does bring up the question: why is this video not available on a website that calls itself The Pink Floyd website?”
He continues “Well, the answer to that is because nothing from me is on the website – I am banned by David Gilmour from the website. David thinks he owns it. I think he thinks that because I left the band in 1985, that he owns Pink Floyd, that he is Pink Floyd and I’m irrelevant and I should just keep my mouth shut.”

C’mon guys, let’s get the band back together
Towards the end of 2020 Waters attempted to hash things out with Gilmour and Drummer Nick Mason but it didn’t work out so well. “I actually suggested going democratic,” He said. “I said, ‘Why don’t we just have a vote? There’s only three of us. And then we can decide all those like that.’ And at least we can just get on. But they wouldn’t have that. They didn’t want it.”
A few years ago Nick Mason had already given up hope of a Pink Floyd reunion telling AZ Central “After 20-something years, I was absolutely tired of waiting for the phone to ring with Roger or David going, ‘C’mon guys, let’s get the band back together,’” He continued “I thought, ‘Forget that. It’s not gonna happen.'”
Well they did they the Guns N’ Roses reunion would never happen but it did eventually. So maybe just maybe we still might get a Pink Floyd reunion.
