Eddie Vedder & Nikki Sixx diss
Eddie Vedder said he despised bands like Motley Crue in a recent interview with New York Times. In return Nikki Sixx said on his Twitter Peal Jam were “the most boring bands in history”.
Vedder’s third solo album Earthling comes out Friday. In addition, The singer reflected on his early years in the business in San Diego and Seattle. “You know, I used to work in San Diego loading gear at a club,” he said. “I’d end up being at shows that I wouldn’t have chosen to go to — bands that monopolized late-’80s MTV. The metal bands that — I’m trying to be nice — I despised.”
The 57-year-old singer took a stab at Motley Crue “‘Girls, Girls, Girls’ and Motley Crue: Fuck you. I hated it,” he said. “I hated how it made the fellas look I hated how it made the women look. It felt so vacuous.” However, he did give credit to Guns N’ Roses. “Guns N’ Roses came out and, thank God, at least had some teeth.”

He mentions how the progressive alternative Seattle grunge scene became more popular than the 80s LA rock scene “But I’m circling back to say that one thing that I appreciated was that in Seattle and the alternative crowd, the girls could wear their combat boots and sweaters, and their hair looked like Cat Power’s and not Heather Locklear’s — nothing against her,” He elaborated. “They weren’t selling themselves short. They could have an opinion and be respected. I think that’s a change that lasted.
After that, Nikki Sixx came back on his Twitter saying “Made me laugh today reading how much the singer in Pearl Jam hated @MotleyCrue Now, considering that they’re one of the most boring bands in history it’s kind of a compliment isn’t it?”
While responding to fans’ tweets Nikki Sixx compared Eddie Vedder’s singing style to “marbles in your mouth”. The majority of the replies to his tweet were in defence of Eddie Vedder with Charly Anna Lindsay@charlylindsay tweeting “Eddie has a point! I’ve never felt objectified by Pearl Jam & I’ve never walked out of a Pearl Jam show because the band were treating the women in the crowd like meat! I can’t say the same of Motley Crue! Guess what band gets my money now?”
It’s unlikely Vedder and Sixx will cross paths anytime soon with Vedder on the road with his solo tour and Motley Crue and Poison on tour with their stadium tour.
