John Frusciante Rejoins The Red Hot Chili Peppers
Water under the bridge – Josh Klinghoffer leaves RHCP and John Frusciante rejoins
About ten years ago John Frusciante posted a statement on his website and his MySpace page (Remember MySpace? It didn’t steal your data or most of your time) saying that, “When I quit the band, we were on an indefinite hiatus. There was no drama or anger involved, and the other guys were very understanding. They are supportive of my doing whatever makes me happy and that goes both ways.
Frusciante has left and rejoined a few times. He first joined the Chili Peppers in 1988 to replace the late Hillel Slovak. Then in May1992 during a Japanese tour and just before the Chili Peppers’ headlining run on that year’s Lollapalooza tour he left he group. He then came back to the band in 1998, following rehabilitation for heroin addiction.
In a statement announcing Klinghoffer’s departure, Red Hot Chili Peppers said;
“Josh is a beautiful musician who we respect and love. We are deeply grateful for our time with him, and the countless gifts he shared with us.”
They also added: “We also announce, with great excitement and full hearts, that John Frusciante is rejoining our group.”
Californian Governor Gavin Newsom has yet to make a statement about this.
