Metallica Blacklist tribute to ‘The Black Album’

The legendary Metallica self titled 1991 album, known to many as ‘The Black Album’ is getting a massive 30th anniversary treatment called ‘Blacklist’.

The Blacklist tribute album is huge! it features remastered tracks, deluxe box sets, vinyl goodies and the big feature is a a shitload of artists and bands covering Metallica songs and they’re from a wide range of genres. And to top it off 100% of the proceeds are going to charity.

It features covers of Enter Sandman by Weezer, Ghost, Mac DeMarco, Rina Sawayama and others. Legendary hardcore punk band OFF! A cover of “Holier Than Thou” by legendary punk/hardcore getup OFF! and from our own Aussie punk legends The Chats. It even has a cover of Nothing Else Matters by Miley Cyrus featuring WATT, Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma, Robert Trujillo, Chad Smith.

The charities the proceeds of the songs will be going to by the choice of the artists. The Chats have revealed their charities will be Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation and The North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency.

Miley Cyrus has already released her track on social media and has said “Honored to be in company of some of the greatest to ever do it,”

None More Blacklist

‘The Black Album’ was sold over 30 million copies worldwide and the album has spent 580 (non-consecutive) weeks on the Billboard 200 chart in USA. The only other band that has achieved this is Pink Floyd with their album ‘The Dark Side of The Moon’.

Metallica’s Blacklist will feature a remastered version of ‘The Black Album’, 180 gram Double Vinyl LP, Standard CD and 3 CD Expanded Edition, digital, and Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set (containing the album remastered on 180G 2LP, a picture disc, three live LPs, 14 CDs (containing rough mixes, demos, interviews, live shows), 6 DVDs (containing outtakes, behind the scenes, official videos, live shows), a 120-page hardcover book, four tour laminates, three lithos, three guitar picks, a Metallica lanyard, a folder with lyric sheets, and a download card).

It will be released on the group’s own Blackened Recordings on 10th September.
