Metallica perform ‘The Black Album’ in reverse order

Metallica gave punters at Louder Than Life festival a performance of ‘The Black Album’ in reverse order. The band promised their fans two unique setlists but kept it secret until the night. Not only did they play ‘The Black Album’ but they also played a bunch of other hits such as ‘Hardwired’ and ‘Creeping Death’.

The Black Album is Metallica’s best selling album and one of the world’s highest selling albums. Released in 1991 it have Metallica their first No.1 album in about 10 countries. It had their smash hit singles such as Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters, Wherever I May Roam and Sad But True. This album launched Metallica into stadium headlines and they dominated radio and music television.

In 1992, the album won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. In 2003, Rolling Stone ranked Metallica number 255 on “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. It was also ranked 25th on the magazine’s “100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time” (2017).

With the 30th Anniversary of the album the album has had a reissue. According the Billboard the album sold more than 37,000 and it smashed to position no.9 on the Billboard 200 chart. After 30 years it smashes back into the charts, showing how good of an album it is.
