Nirvana’s (Near-vana) 2020 Reunion Show Woos Fans
Nirvana’s heart felt reunion show
Violet Grohl, Dave Grohl, Beck, St. Vincent, Kris Novoselic and Pat Smear performed onstage during The Art of Elysium and We are Here Present Heaven is Rock and Roll at Hollywood Palladium on January 04, 2020 and it was brilliant.
Dave Grohl smashing the drums just like the days when he was in Nirvana. Kris Novoselic and Pat Smear were smashing every note and playing beautifully. Beck and St Vincent also took the stage where their passion could have summed the spirit of Kurt Cobain.
The opening song was ‘Lithium’ where St Vincent took the task of lead vocals. Then it went over to Beck for lead vocals on the Nirvana classic ‘In Bloom’. After the song Beck says to the crowd: “That was a pretty good mosh pit,” he said. “I was in the most intense mosh pit of my life in this room. I remember being carried off my feet, and when I got out my hands were bleeding and I didn’t know why. The band was Nirvana.”
It’s wasn’t all Gen Xers with rose tinted glasses speaking of the glory days of yesteryear, A young Violet Grohl took the stage. Violet is Dave Grohl’s 13-year-old daughter. She sang a beautiful version of Nirvana’s ‘Heart Shaped Box’ from their final studio album ‘In Utero’.
Beck then took on vocals for Nirvana’s cover of David Bowie’s ‘The Man Who Sold The World’. With the crowd all singing along it was a nice cover to hear. That was the closing song of their short 30 minute set. Compared to other reunion shows that the main member of a band is no longer with us, this one did well and I believe the spirit of Kurt Cobain would be happy.
