Tony Iommi on rock music ‘It will never die, rock is forever’Rodney
Tony Iommi – Rock music is forever and will never die
The ‘rock is dead’ debate has been going on and off, kicked off again by the Donald Trump of Rock n Roll – Gene Simmons. Simmons told Gulf News back in 2014 “Rock is dead. And that’s because new bands haven’t taken the time to create glamour, excitement and epic stuff,” He added “I mean, Foo Fighters is a terrific band, but that’s a 20-year-old band. So you can go back to 1958 until 1988. That’s 30 years. During that time, we had Elvis [Presley], The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, on and on.”
Well Tony Iommi thinks differently and doesn’t agree with Gene Simmons that rock is dead. He said “I think good music is not going to go. There’s always going to be a market for it. There are going to be an amount of bands that fall by the wayside — as there always is, there always will be. But there are certain bands that are going to stick out and going to be there. You’ve got Metallica up there — they’re not going to go away. They’ve got a lot of fans and they’ve got a great fanbase. There are a lot of bands out there. No, the music is not going to go away.”
Any true rock fan knows well that rock will never die! If the status quo says it’s dead, that just means it’s growing strong in the underground.

Could there be a Black Sabbath biopic in the works?
In other news Tony Iommi says there’s been talks of a Black Sabbath biopic. Iommi tells Spin “Yes, there was talk of it, and I don’t know what happened,” He continued “It sort of went out the window when all this thing [coronavirus pandemic] started. But we were talking about probably 18 months ago, about doing the biopic. I haven’t heard much else.”
Tony Cavalero played Ozzy Osbourne in Mötley Crüe’s biopic – The Dirt and he did a bloody great job. It would be great if he could relive the role of Ozzy in the Sabbath biopic.
Who could forget the scene in The Dirt when Ozzy snorted a line of ants. Crazy stuff!
