Pearl Jam hint of new album and/or a world tour
Pearl Jam have released a scavenger hunt on their website for fans around the world. For Australian fans there’s only one place and that place is in Ultimo (Sydney, NSW). Coordinates are here. Are they teasing fans with a concert location? Seems like it’s not as the Sydney location is under a bridge. You’ve got to get your Facebook or Instagram lens on and use it to view the augmented reality promotion. Many people have popped up to the sites and used the Facebook or Instagram lens to show that the augmented reality shows what appears to be a polar icecap melting into the ocean. A “gigaton” is also how the melting of polar ice caps is measured. Could this be the name of their new album? Or is this a subtle hint of a world tour – A ton of gigs?
The type of font used when the words ‘Pearl Jam’ appear on the melting ice caps looks similar to a electrocardiogram. We’ve had hints of a new album from Pearl Jam for about a year now. Back in January 2019 guitarist Steve Gossard said to Rolling Stone “We’re going to make a record, and we’re in the middle of it. We’re just going to keep plugging away until we get one done.”
Bassist Jeff Ament added: “We’ve gone in, probably, four or five times in the last couple of years, so we have a whole ton of unfinished stuff. We’re just in a little bit of limbo. I’m sure everybody’s got a bunch more riffs, and I’m sure vocalist Eddie Vedder’s got a handful of journal lyrics.
“It’s just going to take us all getting into a room together for six weeks and just knocking something out.”
Well let’s hope we find out soon and let’s hope there’s a world tour that comes with it too.
