Barker joined Blink-182 in 1998, shortly before the release of the band’s breakthrough album, Enema of the State. Alongside Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge, he helped define the sound of a generation with songs including “All the Small Things”, “What’s My Age Again?” and “I Miss You”.

His explosive style also made him one of modern music’s most influential drummers, with collaborations spanning punk, rock and hip-hop.

The Plane Crash That Changed His Life

A central part of Louder Than Fear examines the 2008 plane crash that nearly killed Barker.

He suffered third-degree burns across 65 per cent of his body and underwent numerous surgeries. The documentary reveals how the crash left him battling trauma, survivor’s guilt, addiction and a severe fear of flying.

Music became a vital part of his recovery, allowing him to channel his pain into performing and creating.

Blink-182, Family and a New Chapter

The documentary also explores Barker’s bond with his Blink-182 bandmates, including how Mark Hoppus’s 2021 cancer diagnosis helped bring the classic line-up back together.

His relationship with Kourtney Kardashian is another important part of the story. Her support helped Barker confront his fear of flying and begin a new chapter centred on family, recovery and gratitude.
