Blink-182's Mark Hoppus gives update on his cancer treatment

21 May 2023

Mark Hoppus from Blink-182 cancer treatment

Mark Hoppus from Blink-182 announced his diagnosis with cancer. He has been battling with it for the past three months. Now he gives his fans an update on how his treatment is going.

Mark Hoppus tells Planet Radio "How am I feeling today? I feel much better than yesterday. Yesterday was hellish for me and I woke up today feeling better. I went for a walk. I had a decent breakfast. and I haven't felt like I was going to throw up today, so we'll take it as a win."

He's reported to other outlets and said "On good days, I go do stuff. [Today] was the first time I'd left my house in like, five days, pretty much. But this round of chemo, I wasn't totally stuck on the couch, miserable. I've actually watched movies and walked around and cleaned the house and hung out with my dogs. … I didn't just feel like a poisoned electrified zombie leaning up against an electric fence like I did the rest, the past couple of rounds."

Hoppus may be used to isolation during 2020 and some of this year but it can be a rough trot being ill as well. He's a fan of the Los Angeles baseball team - Dodgers. Unfortunately he is unable to get to games,

"I can't go anywhere," Hoppus told. "Wanted to go to the Dodgers last night and I can't. I want to go hang out with friends and go to a restaurant I can't."

He continued, "My white blood cell count is way too low for me to go out, so I am stuck trying to get better. That's alright; I'll take it."

Support from Blink-182 mates

blink-182 bandmate Travis Barker spoke to E! News last week “Mark is my brother and I love and support him. I will be with him every step of the way onstage and off and can’t wait for us to play together again soon.”

As well as former bandmate Tom DeLonge said “I too, have been aware of Mark Hoppus’ cancer diagnosis for awhile now. And to add to his own words that he used today, I would also like to say that he is strong, and a super-human who is pushing through this difficult obstacle with a wide-open heart. #WeHaveHisBack”

We wish all the best for Mark and his treatment.
