Mötley Crüe sell entire music catalogue to BMG

Mötley Crüe have sold their entire music catalogue to BMG. The deal is estimated to be approximately $150 million. The deal includes all nine of Mötley Crüe's studio albums. From their 1981 debut, Too Fast for Love to their latest 2008 album Saints of Los Angeles. Additionally the deal also includes live recording and compilation albums.

For instance this is BMG's largest single catalogue purchase since the company was founded in 2008. BMG state that it is a new kind of music company. With a mission to help artists and songwriters make the very most of their songs and recordings in the digital age.

The band have released a statement that said "It feels amazing to be collaborating with our new partners at BMG. Their extensive track record of success in rock made them the perfect home to continue preserving and growing our musical legacy. Ensuring we always stay at the top."

Similarly manager of Mötley Crüe Allen Kovac said "After working side by side with BMG for well over a decade, the relationship we have developed and success we've accomplished over the years made this a very easy transition to entrust with this treasured rock catalog. Working with BMG in any capacity, whether that's publishing or records, has always been a great experience."

CEO of BMG Hartwig Masuch said: "This is more than just a significant transaction. It's a new chapter for an extraordinary catalog. Few bands understand the myth and the magic of rock like Mötley Crüe do. In an increasingly competitive rights acquisition market, artists need to be convinced that a buyer will do the right thing with their work. I am delighted that Mötley Crüe have decided BMG will be the best custodians of their musical career."

In conclusion the deal shows part of BMG's plans for their future of music releases. BMG currently represent other artists including Black Sabbath, DIO, Iron Maiden, Kurt Cobain, Motörhead, Scorpions, Bring Me The Horizon and more.

In addition Mötley Crüe are scheduled to launch their long-delayed stadium tour in June 2022. They will join Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.
