EVANESCENCE Enlists JACOBY SHADDIX from PAPA ROACH for Electrifying 'Bring Me To Life' Performance at Germany's ROCK AM RING

Jacoby Shaddix, the lead vocalist of PAPA ROACH, made a special guest appearance with EVANESCENCE during their performance at the Rock Am Ring festival in Nürburgring, Germany on June 3. Together, they performed EVANESCENCE's breakthrough hit from 2003, "Bring Me To Life." A video capturing this memorable moment can be viewed below.

Last August, "Bring Me To Life" experienced a resurgence, nineteen years after its initial release. The song originally reached No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and became EVANESCENCE's first No. 1 single in the U.K. It climbed to the top spot on the U.S. iTunes chart.

In February 2022, EVANESCENCE's music video for "Bring Me To Life" surpassed an impressive milestone of one billion views on YouTube. Directed by Philipp Stölzl, the video was filmed in Romania in January 2003 and uploaded to YouTube in December 2009. It features lead singer Amy Lee in a nightgown, barefoot, inside a tall building in the city at night, while the rest of the band performs on a higher floor.

The album version of "Bring Me To Life," which featured guest vocals from Paul McCoy of 12 STONES, was included on the soundtrack of the superhero film "Daredevil."

In 2021, during an interview with Germany's Sonic Seducer, Amy Lee shared the lyrical inspiration behind "Bring Me To Life." She revealed that she wrote the song about her current husband before they were married, during a challenging time in her life. Amy described a moment when Josh, her now-husband, asked her if she was happy, which deeply affected her. This encounter sparked the creation of the song's first verse, capturing her longing for a better place. She expressed gratitude that this deeply personal song became their breakthrough hit, resonating with listeners and launching their career.

In March 2021, Lee disclosed to Alternative Press that EVANESCENCE's original record label, Wind Up, had threatened not to release their debut album, "Fallen," unless a male voice was added to the lead single, "Bring Me To Life," to make it more radio-friendly. Despite this demand, "Fallen" went on to sell over 10 million copies in the U.S. and earned two Grammy Awards, including "Best Rock Performance" for "Bring Me To Life."

EVANESCENCE released their latest album, "The Bitter Truth," in March 2021 through BMG. It marked their first album of original music in a decade.
